The duo of Josh Giesbrecht and Marley Mecas transformed a cannabis dispensary into a bodega-style grocery store that still discreetly sells cannabis but places emphasis on fresh produce, pantry basics, ready meals, and grab-and-go items.
A stage with a red cedar wall was built, the old drop ceiling was replaced with a custom wood ceiling. Bit by bit people have donated time and materials to make this dream a reality. There is still a lot of work to complete the build, but it’s up and running.
Mike Green (JFL, FibeTV, Don’t Tell Comedy) runs Whine Night, the best way to spend your Wednesday night in downtown Winnipeg. Milan Horanski hosts Buckets: Open Mic Comedy on Thursday nights, and each Friday is hosted by a rotating cast of Winnipeg’s best local comics. All of the shows start at 8pm. Winnipeg is home to some of the best stand-up comics in Manitoba. Each show features the best 4-6 comics available that night, plus some great up and coming talent. Occasionally, traveling pro comics will pop in like Johnny Pemberton.
