The only comedy club owned by a dog.
Luci’s Comedy Club was founded in 2024 by business owner Marley Mecas and comedian Tim Gray — with inspiration from Marley’s lil doggie Luci (half Shih Tzu, half Havanese, all adorable).
The club began inside Ashdown Market in Winnipeg’s East Exchange District, where Tim led the transformation of a warehouse space into an intimate comedy room — complete with a custom wood ceiling, handcrafted stage, and the now-legendary Pizza Hut Buffet VIP Booth.
In its short but electric first run, Luci’s quickly became a home for local live comedy. Three comedians recorded specials in the space, including Mike Green, Spencer Adamus, and Chad Anderson. The room proved what we believed from the start: Winnipeg has the talent and the audience to support a thriving, independent comedy club.
When permit issues forced the venue to close, it was a setback — but not the end. The response from audiences and comedians made one thing clear: Luci’s needed to continue.
Today, Luci’s Comedy Club lives on through pop-up shows across Winnipeg, including our monthly show “Comedy on Main” at 468 Main Street. We continue to build, grow, and work toward a permanent home for the club.
If you’ve been to a Luci’s show before, you probably remember the Fun Bucket — where audience members submit topics for comedians to riff on live. It’s unpredictable, interactive, and a reminder of what makes live comedy special: anything can happen.
Luci’s was built by hand. It was built by community. And we’re building it again — stronger than before.
